With my son's imminent arrival (each day I get nervous few times during the day when my wife calls me at work) I have less time to lurk around on Fantasy Fan, however I want you to know that I'm still here! :-)

In the meantime take a look at the following fantasy iPhone wallpapers I found surfing the net. First one is made from the Eragon movie poster, second and third wallpaper is from Battle Realms and Empire Earth real time strategy games. It's been a while since I posted anything new in the downloads section. And since I spent a better part of the day looking for a new wallpaper (it's Friday! how long can a man stay focused? ;-) ) I decided to share two of the pieces I found, which are closely relating to a fantasy fan in me. The first one is a simple, yet very nice Lord of the Rings wallpaper, a green background with elven letters forming a ring, very stylish! The second one reminds me of Lorien as it was portrayed in LOTR movies, but I don't think the two are related. It contains houses on tall trees. Very peaceful.

Some time ago Suvudu posted a video interview with Todd Lockwood, the artist responsible for many of the amazing fantasy book and magazine covers as well as Magic: The Gathering cards. In this Comic Con interview Todd talks about Dragon anatomy, covers he made for various Robert Salvatore's books, his World of Warcraft art and cover for WOW magazine Blizzard is planning to start.

I've been looking over various covers for fantasy books I have gathered over the years and have come up with an idea to share my favorite picks with Fantasy Fan readers. The book cover is a tricky thing - it's not supposed to really matter because what's really important is inside, the actual book, yet often it's the book cover is the thing catches attention of a new reader browsing the new releases in the bookstore.

My first choice of a book cover to list here is an art for book not released yet: The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (book 1 of The Inheritance Trilogy by N.K. Jemisin). The cover was created by Lauren Panepinto and I find it absolutely gorgeous. Read more about the cover in Lauren's blog entry on the Orbit Books website.

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is going to be released on February 25, 2010 . You can pre-order it today, on Amazon.

The Wertzore reports that on June 16th the British Post Office is issuing a series of stamps based on creatures from mythology. The images were created by Dave McKean, artist best know from his collaboration with Neil Gaiman. If you're a fantasy fan and you collect stamps - those are must-have!

I like to browse DeviantArt website sometimes. There are many talented artists displaying their work out there. The one that caught my eye recently was KXMode and his Diablo 3 wide screen wallpaper created based on the one cinematic Blizzard released for the game.

The wallpaper is dedicated for dual monitor setups and is simply amazing!

As some of you know Dell has been working with Blizzard on the line of gaming computers (XPS desktops and laptops). One of the features emerging from this cooperation was a number of special wallpapers based on the World of Warcraft artwork. George R.R. Martin announced on his website the brand new Song of Ice and Fire calendar with the graphics created by Michael Komarck for Dabel Brothers. The calendar features two already released arts of Ned Stark and Sansa Stark as well as many new images including: Jon Snow, Lord Berric Dondarrion fighting Sandor Clegane and more!
