Raymond E. Feist News: At the Gates of Darkness cover and release date

I noticed this cover recently when I was going through new and upcoming books. "At the Gates of Darkness", Book Two of the Demonwar Saga by Raymond E. Feist continues the story started in "Rides a Dread Legion". I'm a bit disappointed with this cover. Riftwar books used to have really great covers. This one though... are those supposed to be demons? Oh well.

Anyway, the book will be released on April 6, 2010. You can preorder it today on Amazon.com.

Raymond E. Feist News: New Feist books!

Good news for Raymund E. Feist fans! Here is a message posted by Ray on the feistfans-l:

Currently I'm working on Agent of Madness (working title, almost certain to change), book one in the Darkwar Saga. To be followed by Into A Dark Realm, and Wrath of a Mad God.

These are going to be larger, more sprawling books, akin to Sethanon and Rage, as opposed to the more recent, more personal stories.

Raymond E. Feist Review: The Serpentwar Saga: Rage of a Demon King

A loyal soldier and a wealthy merchant have served bravely in the flames of an enduring war that is ravaging their land. But swords, bows, wits and courage will no longer be enough to defeat the scourge that is descending upon their home. Raymond E. Feist Review: The Serpentwar Saga: Rise of a Merchant Prince

A usual problem with sequels (that they don't measure up to the original) applies to this follow-up to Shadow of a Dark Queen, which also suffers from unexpectedly stodgy prose and a paucity of action.

A dark and alien peril casts an lengthening shadow over Midkemia as another Riftworld saga begins almost a generation after the events in The King's Buccaneer . Erik von Darkmoor, bastard son of the local baron, flees to the city of Krondor after accidentally killing his legitimate and sadistic half-brother.

Feist's fifth book in the Riftwar series, begun in 1982 with Magician , is a lively coming-of-age adventure. Prince Nicholas, youngest son of the prince of Krondor, becomes a man and a leader while foiling ancient enemies of his people and his house. Nicholas, who has a club foot, is sent to his uncle the duke of Crydee to learn the responsibilities that accompany privilege. This welcome continuation of The Riftwar Saga picks up 20 years after A Darkness of Sethanon leaves off. In part a coming-of-age story, it tells of Borric and Erland, twin sons of the Prince of Krondor. Carelessly lighthearted, they soon learn the need for responsibility in times of danger.
